I'm Alex Lewin, a second-year MFA candidate in Playwriting at the University of California at San Diego. I live in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of SD, but you’re right if you guessed that that picture of me was taken smack in the middle of Manhattan, where I was lucky enough to live from 1998–99 and 2001–2005.

Here at TruthAboutAlex.com* you will find my bio, resumé, a digest of my work, and one or two bits of entertainment.

Have a look at MY BRAND SPANKIN' NEW BLOG, which I update every day. How is it different from any other blog out there? Because I’m smart and I can write.

*My domain name is an oblique reference to a made-for-HBO movie from the late ’80s called “The Truth about Alex,” in which Scott Baio played a popular high-school jock whose values and loyalties are tested when his best friend, the titular Alex, comes out of the closet. I was in junior high at the time, and all the kids had a field day with me because, you see, that gay guy’s name was Alex, and my name was Alex, and, well, the joke just writes itself, doesn’t it? Still, I reacted a bit too defensively, if you catch my meaning.
